In early November 2007, I became a father to Oliver and I'm experiencing it like a whole second life. He won't ever know the fine details of my life before him, just as I don't know the details of my parents' life before me. In an unexpected way, that makes me feel excited :) I don't have too many regrets, but I like new beginnings and here's a big one.

Since his birth I've written 2 new songs. The first was called "Diamonds or Dirt" and it's about hardship - the kind of hardship represented by the struggle to make what you want out of life. The deadends and unexpected detours all play a part. The second song is called "My Angel" and athough you might think that the title is a reference to my new "bundle of joy" it's different from that. Its really about my guardian angel - the force that keeps me on my toes when I'm lazy and keeps me encouraged when I'm feeling blue. I characterize my guardian angel in the persona of a benevolent woman who provides quiet and wise guidance. Its an upbeat song with a lot of words - but I don't have a hard time remembering all of them :)

Both of these songs will be on my upcoming album due out in April/May 2008. I am looking forward to the end of that fork in the road! Man, I tell you. Its been one of the toughest, most challenging tasks I've ever completed. I got so fed up that I started over from scratch once and nearly abandoned the project more than once. But here it is. My baby... #2!
