I got to know Aaron in 2005; he has a down home acousticy style that betrays bluegrass and roots/folk rock as well w/a smooth, warm vox.
Angela's indie/edgy form of country twang is totally addictive. Catch her if you can and you'll find out how sweet it is.
Annie has been playing San Diego for years. She can cut it as a bluesy stylist but also as melancholy or sweet.
The Biddy Bums rock out non-stop. These guys speak their own language and make music that's less like Red Hot Chili Peppers and more like Rusted Root.
Blind Melon's is my first 'Bar' show so, I guess its kinda fun. I don't usually play bars. Its right on the beach and makes a nice plate of microwave jalapeno poppers.
Bridget is another one of those people who brings artists together and really makes things happen. Bridget for president!
Carlos is old hat at fantastic performance art, dramatic playing and singing styles make him an SD favorite.
Cathryn brings art to SD - plain and simple. She's a gypsy queen and a singer songwriter with amber waves of grain...
Cheeky (aka Shant) hails from my homeland of Zimbabwe. So, we got cred w/each other on that. Noone can take their style - its rhythmic and sparse.
Christiane sings brightly and with optimism. Check her out all over SD at a venue near you.
Claire's is nice - but, you know... I hardly ever play there. Hm.
Cosmo's is my home away from home. I discovered this village of music lovers in '05 during my east county expedition and I've been going back ever since.
Davida brings presents her music in a totally unabashed and open way. Her talent is a gift for authenticity and heart.
E Street Cafe is a pleasant Encinitas digs with ambience and no sound system. One of a few acoustic venues around Encinitas.
Humphrey's is a lounge place, like for lounge acts. Its nice though - good sound and friendly folks - right on downtown's bay.
Jason was one of the first musicians that I got to know in San Diego back in 2000. He's pop meets jazz and really characteristic vocals.
Jane sings like a choir of angels. She released her first solo record in 2005 and makes music at Twiggs, Lestats and other places too.
Jefferson Jay is a one-of-a-kind music wizard, comic genius and lyrical satirist. You've never heard him before - even if you've heard him before!
Joan does regular shows on the air with local artists and makes a huge difference in the local music community with her show.
Kevin Tinkle makes music w/sooouuul! Like luther meets Al Green and all they got is an acoustic guitar. Check this cat out!
The thunder from down under - check him out!
Lestat's covers the darker side of coffee. Probably the second place I ever played in SD but, still a favorite for their strong decaf.
Martin's got a nice, mellow style. I met him thru Satish and he played at my second CD release party in 2003. Check him out.
Melodies in Mind is a socially conscious folk music radio program which airs on CJSF 90.1 FM every Tuesday from 8 to 9 pm. It features live music from small time (and occasionally big time) musicians, music interviews, new folk music, and classic folk mus
This is a great folk radio program out of Simon Fraser in Vancouver, BC. Worth a listen online at www.cjsf.ca
Michelle is a hard working, hard singing artist with a lot of... education. She's smart and so is her music.
Nathan is a major inspiration for me because he get sh#t done. In the first 4 months I knew him, he set up the two best acoustic festivals in recent memory.
North Star is a hard workin' band. They tour, they write, they practice. I guess thats why they have the blues
Richie plays the meanest f'in blues harp in SD. He plays all styles but, you can taste the BBQ sauce when he plays blues.
I met Saba in 2001 @ Twiggs. Her voice got me right away. She's a fantastic talent who really walks the walk as a hard working local artist.
Sam's a goose - he's in a band called the Gooses. He's poppy and brash - outspoken and a bit sinister. But, he means well and hasn't injured anyone yet.
I got to know Scott in one of his many attempts to bring artists together. He pulls folks together and makes music. Simple.
Scott is a devoted local music fan and he covers everybody and everything. So, check his weekly blog out and send him some kudos!
Issac and the swede sing pop originals and do a mean cover of Romeo and Juliet.
I met Simeon thru the Troubadour. He's a bit of a guitar virtuoso and generally strays toward the jazzy riffs and vocals.
Ted sounds melancholy when he plays. His style is emotional and full of conviction.
Tim Corley has played with everyone at some point - he's got great guitar chops and a penchant for pop ballads.
Tom is hands down my favorite performer from SD. His voice is magical and delicate and his style harks back to the old days but he makes it modern again.
